Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave is a new program to start for Maine workers in May 2026. It provides paid time off for medical, parental, family care, military family, and safe leaves. As more states launch these programs, employers often compare Maine with Minnesota Paid Leave and Delaware Paid Leave to see how the rules differ. This program will ensure that workers are able to take time off to care for themselves or a family member and still receive partial wage replacement for up to 12 weeks in a benefit year. Job protection only applies if the employee has worked for their employer for at least 120 consecutive days. Claims will be administered by Aflac.
